Motor Vehicle Accident Physiotherapy

Injured in a Motor Vehicle Accident?

If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident (MVA), either as a driver or a passenger, you are entitled to accident benefits coverage regardless of whether you were at fault for the accident.

After you’ve been injured in a car accident, it’s vital to get physiotherapy treatment as quickly as possible. You do not require a doctor’s referral to access our services at MVMT Physio & Chiro. Often, the effects of an auto injury are delayed or subtle. Seek medical advice as quickly as possible to ensure you are adequately treated and protected for the future.

We understand that your accident may have left you in worse shape than your car. Our reputation has been built on successfully returning thousands of auto injury patients back to pre-accident function. At MVMT Physio & Chiro, we have the expertise to rehabilitate a wide range of car accident related injuries including common orthopedic conditions such as back strains and whiplash, as well as accident-specific joint, ligament, muscle,  tendon, spine and bone conditions. Whether you are suffering whiplash from a rear-end collision, or if you were a pedestrian who got struck by a vehicle,  you shouldn’t have to suffer in pain, our pain expert team can help!

How to Proceed With Your MVA FREE PHYSIOTHERAPY Claim:

1) Report Your Auto Injury to Your Insurance Company

Within 10 days of your auto accident, report your injuries to your insurer and pay a visit to a physiotherapist. You do not need a physician referral to access our services. Regardless of who was at fault for the accident, your insurance provider is responsible for making health and rehabilitation services available to you. Once you have a health claim initiated with your insurance provider, we can take care of the rest.

2) Submit your AB – 1 Form Within Ten Days

You will need to summit your AB – 1 Form Notice of Loss and Proof of Claim form. Please call our friendly staff at  (780) 459-5015 and we can help you with the paperwork.  Please retain a copy for your records and send the original signed form to the insurance company.

3) Call us to Book an Initial Assessment With Our Auto Injury Physiotherapy Team

Your physiotherapist will examine your car accident related injuries, discuss with you a treatment plan, begin therapy, and collect all the necessary information to fill out and submit an MVA rehabilitation insurance claim on your behalf.

For minor auto injuries, you will be covered under “Diagnostic & Treatment “Protocol” Regulation. You are eligible to receive up to a maximum of 10 or 21 physiotherapy treatments, depending on your type of injury. Your treatments must be finished within 90 days of your car accident. If you are not feeling better and require more treatments, your physiotherapist team will request for more from the auto insurer.

For many patients, coverage is also available under your extended health benefits (e.g., Blue Cross or similar employee benefits plans).  Our clinic can bill directly to your auto insurance company to save you time and paperwork so you can focus on the road to recovery.

For severe car injuries like fractures, dislocations, or neurological injuries, you may be approved under “Out of Protocol” Regulation.  Treatments may be subject to approval from the auto insurer and extended health benefits coverage.

Our friendly administrative staff will help guide you through the Diagnostic & Treatment Protocols Regulation and insurance claim process

If you have not been able to attend treatments within the “Protocol” time frames, you may also fall under the “Out of Protocol” Regulations.  Treatments may be subject to approval from the auto insurer and extended health benefits coverage.

Proudly serving the St. Albert and Edmonton communities since 1992, we have helped over 12,420 patients. Get pain relief and start feeling better today!
